Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does your site have a secure connection? How am I able to tell if it is a safe connection?
A: Our site uses SSL encryption to secure the communication of all sensitive information passing between your browser and our servers. To confirm you are viewing a secure connection you should see https:// in the URL shown in your Internet browser’s address bar. You should also check for a lock at the bottom right corner of your browser.
Q: Shouldn’t the address bar show https:// rather than http:// ? Doesn’t the ‘s’ at the end mean it is a secure connection?
A: We only use https:// for secure pages, pages where confidential information is collected. Pages that are only used for products or blogs will still use the regular http:// since no sensitive information is being passed through them.
Q: If I save my payment information in your system will it be safe?
A: Of course! Our security team spends a lot of time ensuring the safety of your payment information. We maintain PCI compliance and encrypt all connections using SSL technology. Yes! Our awesome (and quite hunky) security staff go to great lengths to ensure the safety of our customers’ payment information. Any stored payment information is encrypted within a network that is firewalled off from the rest of the company and the Internet.
Q: Why don’t you require the 3 digit security code from the back of credit cards?
A: Because the 3 digit security code is not absolutely necessary to securely process your payment. Orders are reviewed by our staff to make sure they are not fraudulent. We use a set of fraud indicators that have proven to be better than the 3 digit security code. Our reliance on these indicators continues to keep our fraud rating well below the industry average. That said, we continue to look in to ways that the security code could be beneficial.
