Epson Settlement Update
This isn’t exactly breaking news, but more of a general update to the people who come here looking for news about when they can get their benefits from Epson. Recently, Epson filed an appeal challenging the settlement. This is what the official settlement site says:
Appeals have been filed challenging the Judgment and order granting final approval of the Settlement and application for attorneys’ fees. As a result, the distribution of Settlement benefits is on hold until the appeals process is completed.
Originally, they did note that the benefits would not be paid until the Court had given final approval and all appeals had been “expired”, so this isn’t a total surprise. This is somewhat interesting since Epson originally settled this back in April of 2006, and now they are appealing it, but basically this is always what happens with these types of cases. Maybe it has something to do with lawyer’s fees, maybe one person isn’t happy about it, I don’t know. All this stuff goes on behind the scenes, so unfortunately at this moment, all everyone can do is continue to wait.

Just a note,
I have an Epson Stylus Photo R320.
Also, with same habits of reporting empty before being empty. Also, several yellow cartridges bought ‘new’, empty almost immediately and printer will not work at all.
Staples used to at least give a $3. rebate on all ‘used’ ink cartridges. They will no longer REBATE Epson ink. (Of course, they still will sell you these ’skimpy use’ babies!)
Does anyone know a Co. that will rebate ‘empty’ Epson ink cartridges?

Basically, if you gave them a cartrige, they “fill” it and sell it back. Epson does not like this, as it cuts into thier sales, so they gave Staples a hard time about this, I am assuming they changed there dealer prices on new cartriges or something.
bottom line: as much as I don;t like it, filled cartriges are never as good as new ones from epson. i don;t have any trouble anymore (ruined printers, bad cartriges) because I don; fill or buy filled cartriges, only new.
Not a good position, but the only viable one. Costco sell the keits for the R3xx printers as 2/3 the Staples price.

I have a all in one Epson Printer (CX7800) and I thought the problem was because it was a all in one Printer. Now I know that I am not the only one that has the problem. Sam’s has a good Price on the 5 pack that you have to have. Wish I had kept my other printer that was a Lexmar.

I have two epson printers from this law suite. The problem with the ink, is that it dries up inside the head assembly in the printer. The first one was sent off to Epson for repairs, got it back three months later and it did the same thing six months later. Now the second one, done the same thing. I’ve been holding these code numbers for a year, which is useless now, don’t have a working epson printer to use the products with.

I have 4 Epson printers in this lawsuit and I finally resorted to searching the web for hours for answers. Here is what I found. My cousins all-in-one has a tube that collects the excess ink when cleaning is done. the ink travels through the tube and into a coupler that has another tube connected to it. The idea behind this is so the tube can make a left turn before it spills the excess ink onto the felt pad inside the printer.(all epson inkjets work this way except for the coupler). Since the coupler has a smaller diameter hole than the hoses, the ink dries up in the coupler. When there is a blockage in the excess ink tube the cartridges will never get cleaned and the ink will end up all over the rollers. The coupler is accessible through a small cover in the back of the printer. The fix is to remove the coupler and have the hose come out the back of the printer and into a small bottle. This worked perfect for me. The other fix for the ink running out I found is to download a very small utility called SSC Service Utility. You can download it at: http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml. Scroll to the bottom and hit agree to download. This utility works awsome. It lets you clean black or color cartridges separately, it resets the counter inside the printer software so the printer will never show that the felt pad is full. Epson printers will stop running when the counter says the pad is full and tells you that internal parts need replacing and to bring it to an epson certified dealer. Total B.S.!! The utility also lets you reset the ink levels to show full so the printer will keep printing. When I reset the ink levels I get about 50% more usage out of my cartridges. Oh yeah, before I forget to mention, I get my cartridges from ebay from a buyer with the username: [COMMENT EDIT] …he has over 12,000 sales with 100% positive feedback. I get multiple cartridges at a time and they end up costing under 3 bucks apiece with priority shipping included. I am very happy with my epson printer now and there are some other tricks I found when my printer started making a grinding noise. The answers are out there if you have the time to search for them. Email me with any questions and if I have the answer I’ll be more than happy to share…especially after this last move by epson to delay what is coming to all of us. My email is: [COMMENT EDIT]……Just for the sake of saying it “I’ll take an Epson over an H.P. anyday”!! Enjoy the tips, Robert
