Epson Settlement
A month ago, we wrote about how Epson had settled a couple of class action lawsuits over the amount of ink left in their cartridges. Technically if you printer was already registered with Epson, you should have automatically received your credit in the mail. Also, you can still register you printer up until November 13th, 2006 and automatically receive the credit. The June 22nd deadline only applies if you never registered your printer with Epson and don’t want to or else you don’t want the $45 credit and you want one of the other benefits.
So far, based on what we have read on a few different sites, it doesn’t seem like too many people have run into any big problems yet. Hopefully the process is going smoothly for most people. If anybody has had any experiences with this claims process, good or bad, leave us a comment and let us know.

Update - You can visit this page on the official settlement site to be automatically notified when your discount/benefits will become available.

I recieved the info in the mail about the class suit, in the packet was listed my “E-store code” for a model we registered through Office Depot, where I purchased the printer. Because I registered with O.D Do I still have to register with epson? The printer is long gone in the trash so I can not give them the info required but being I did recieve the E-store code am I already set up for the E-store credit? Also the claim form info I recieved states to register with EAI, what the heck is EAI? If you know what I should do please write back if possible

I am more bothered by the predatory nature of the Epson ink sales, than the actual deception regarding ink depletion. Why can’t epson be forced into not protecting itself from third party ink manufacturers. I would gladly pay double for an Epson printer that used industry standardized inks and allowed suppliers to compete. I feel some third party inks have actually been of higher quality than the warranty allowed manufacturer’s. What if General Motors was in the business of selling $20 per quart motor oil and voided its warranty if you purchased otherwise. Industry held accepted quality (like the AP rating on oil) could assure us of quality. Printer companies are in the ink business, so we would see an increase in the product cost.

I went to the epson website to purchase a scanner that had a 10% discount. When I went to apply my store code for the settlement of $20.00 …Epson added back in the 10% and stated only one discount could be applied.
I wouldn’t think that they could do that since the $20.00 is actually my money that they lost in a lawsuit not a special promotion.

Never Mind …..I was using AOL browser. I switched browsers and ended up getting the discount as well as the $20.00 settlement.

I received the notice from the Claims administrator, but as of June 25 have received no checks or codes from Epson.
Is there something else I need to do or a number to call?
Thanks!

I just went to the Epson site , to their store and attempted to purchase some items with my code.I could not find a place to put the code.
It seems that Epson is being creatively vague.

I received my settlment code number and tried to use it at the Epson Store. Called customer service and spent twenty minutes on hold listening to their insipid commercials before giving up. Also e-mailed them with return receipt- no reply.May have to revert to a certified snail mail or file a complaint with the US DOJ.

I finally got my “piece of paper” with the damn code on it, and apparently you need the zip code of where you lived when you registered you epson and jump through a zillion hurdles before redemption. I threw out that damn printer a long time ago because of this problem, and have no desire to purchase another. There is nothing I really need from the Epson store, and I lost my code anyway before I could use it. F’em!

I received my code, but lost it before I could use it. I called the number listed on the website in the beginning of January but have not heard from anyone since then. Can you please tell me how long it takes to get a new code?
